Hearing Aid Fitting

Every hearing loss and listening lifestyle is different. During a hearing aid fitting, the audiologist customizes the devices rather than relying only on factory settings. The visit also gives patients the practical knowledge they need to wear, operate and care for their hearing aids with confidence.

The right hearing aid, properly fitted, makes the difference between a device you tolerate and one you barely notice you're wearing. Hearing aid fitting is a personalized, typically two-visit process that ensures your hearing aids are calibrated to your specific hearing profile, lifestyle, and comfort, appropriate for hearing loss of any degree that's been determined to benefit from amplification.

The audiologist programs each hearing aid using the patient’s audiogram and listening needs, then evaluates fit, comfort and sound quality. Verification measures may be used to confirm that amplified sound reaches appropriate levels in the ear. The patient receives hands-on instruction for daily use, maintenance and device features, followed by scheduled adjustments as the brain and ears adapt to amplified sound.

After a comprehensive hearing evaluation and discussion of your daily needs, your audiologist selects and orders the appropriate devices; at the fitting appointment, the hearing aids are programmed to your hearing profile and adjusted for different listening environments, with hands-on guidance on use and care. A properly fitted hearing aid, backed by professional programming and follow-up support, offers a level of comfort and clarity that off-the-shelf devices typically can't match.
